Janti Smith is living the American dream. She opened the Phone Depot in uptown Yucaipa April 1, 2015 and she has come along way for this milestone.

Smith was born and raised in Indonesia where she learned to fix cell phones as a child. In 2007 Smith flew to Los Angeles with a small amount of money, a passport and a dream to make a better life. All of her money was stashed in her socks.

She didn’t even know who to call to get a ride from the airport. She worked and lived all over Southern California for a few years, living at one point with 20 strangers in one house. She strapped her money to her body in order to keep it safe while she slept.

Eventually, Smith met her husband, an Air Force veteran, and they settled here in Yucaipa. They have three young daughters. Smith has been fixing her friends and family members’ mobile devices for years. She had such a knack that her loved ones encouraged her to open her own business right here in Yucaipa.

According to Smith, the Phone Depot “provides all needs for any types of tablets or phones.“

She can repair damage such as cracked screens or even water damage for a reasonable price.

The phone Depot also has a wide selection of accessories for different types of phones including cases, covers, wallets, chargers, adapters, screen protectors, memory cards, headphones and Bluetooth devices.

The phone Depot is located at 35081 Yucaipa Blvd. ptown just before the California Street roundabout. Customers can easily spot the phone Depot by its light turquoise paint scheme.

The store hours are Monday-Saturday 11 AM-6 PM

Smith doesn’t want customers to feel limited by those hours though.
Feel free to call the Phone Depot at (909) 790–0127) to set up your appointment.
